Horst Urban (born May 15, 1936 in Gablonz ; † March 2, 2010 in Smržovka ) was a Czech luge athlete .

Career

Urban mainly started with his brother Roland Urban in the two-seater of the luge, but also started in the single-seater. At the 1964 Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck he competed in both disciplines, reaching single-seater and the doubles rank 12th in the Luge World Championships in 1965 launched Urban in single-seaters, finishing just behind the medals in fourth place. At his second Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble in 1968 , he reached 25th place in the singles, before he took 12th place again with his brother in the doubles.

After his active career, Urban became involved in tobogganing in Smržovka , where he campaigned for the construction of a new toboggan run in the 1970s. His son Petr Urban also started as a luge athlete at the Olympic Games in 1988 and 1992.
