Hosaena (also Hosanna , Hosa'ina or Hossana ; Amharic ሆሣዕና Hosanna! ) Is a city and woreda in southern Ethiopia in the Hadiya zone in the region of the southern nations, nationalities and peoples of Ethiopia.

The city is a center and stronghold of Protestantism in Ethiopia . Few Catholics exist . Nevertheless, Hosaena is the seat of the Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of Hosanna .

The city is located at an altitude of about 2200 m above sea level in the highlands of Abyssinia . Despite the altitude, Hosaena is not malaria-free . Temperatures are around 15 ° C on average, are pleasant despite the high altitude and change little over the year due to the location in the tropics.
