Hossein Shahabi
Hossein Shahabi ( Persian حسین شهابی; born 1967 in Tabriz , Iran) is an Iranian film producer , screenwriter and film director .
Life
After completing his studies in classical music at the University of Tehran , he gave private tuition in his subject. In 1996 he made his first short film Hundred Times Hundred , a film on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of cinema . For this he received a prize at the One Off Festival , which was also held on the occasion of the anniversary. Since then he has written, directed and produced 20 short films, ten fictional motifs (videos on the Iranian market) and three features for the theater. He won national and international prizes.
The Bright Day (2013) is his debut, which was well received by critics. It was nominated in four categories at the Fajr International Film Festival, Tehran (February 2013) and won two honorary degrees. The Bright Day had its international premiere in the competition of the Mar del Plata Film Festival (2013) and won the Astor Prize. The film has also been played at festivals such as 3 Sydney Film Festival, 28th Boston Film Festival, 21st Houston Film Festival, 18th Washington DC Film Festival, 29th Los Angeles Film Festival, and The Rice and UCAL University. At the 24th Iran Film Festival, The Bright Day won the awards for “Best Producer” and “Best Film”.
