Hot Cross was a post-hardcore / screamo band from Philadelphia , formed in 2000 . The band stated on July 7, 2007 to be "indefinitely inactive" to be.

history

Hot Cross was founded in the winter of 2000 by Greg Drudy ( Saetia , Interpol ), Matt Smith ( Off Minor ), Casey Boland ( You and I ) and Josh Jakubowski ( Neil Perry , The Now and Joshua Fit For Battle ) as a leisure project. After a few live performances, they send a rehearsal room recording to Billy Werner, the former singer of Greg Drudy's former band Saetia . He is enthusiastic, breaks off his studies in England and joins the band.

The debut EP A New Set of Lungs will be released in March 2001. The 7 songs are written within 3 months and recorded over a weekend. The sound sounds boisterous and immature, but the EP is sold out within a few weeks. In 2002 the band tours Europe and Japan. In March 2003 the first LP Cryonics was released . The band is dissatisfied with the songs and only plays the song Dissertation: 14 once live. Before the next recordings, there are internal changes to the instruments and Matt Smith (previously guitar) and Josh Jakubowski (previously bass) change their respective instruments, as neither of them played the instrument they originally learned. Fair Trades & Farewells will be released in May 2005. On the subsequent tour, Hot Cross will play almost 200 concerts and then begin to write new songs. After 6 songs were written Josh Jakubowski leaves the band and forces the remaining members to reduce the songs from two to one guitar because they didn't want a new guitarist in the band. After all songs were finished in early 2006, Hot Cross went to the studio in summer 2006 to record the record. After 9 days in the studio, the 4 band members were extremely dissatisfied with the recordings and called Jakubowski, who was now working as a sound engineer. He helped the band record the songs, but did not get back into the band.

Her style is strongly influenced by Drive Like Jehu , characterized by complex guitar playing and dueling guitars.
