history

Hotel Berlin , 1960

The then Hotel Berlin was opened in 1958 in the western part of Berlin . Originally, the Willy Huth, the builder of the legendary Huth wine house on Potsdamer Platz , stood on the property cleared after 1945 between Lützowplatz and Kurfürstenstraße .

The first construction phase was built by Paul Schwebes and Hans Schoszberger in the style of post-war modernism . The facade design of the elegant elongated building showed parallels to the recently completed zoo center and its hotel entrance was oriented towards Kurfürstenstrasse. Model photos show an approximately 20-storey tower, similar to the Berlin Hilton , which was built at the same time, but which was not realized.

In the 1980s and 1996, the building was expanded with two more hotel wings. Today the house has 701 rooms and suites in six categories, several restaurants and bars and one of the few garden restaurants in town.

In 2006 the Swedish company Pandox AB took over the Hotel Berlin.

It is one of the largest congress hotels in Berlin. The conference and event area is available for events with a total area of over 3000 m². A total of 48 event rooms are available.
