The long hill Hov Dås is located in Thy , 13 kilometers northeast of Thisted , between Hov and Hovsør in Jutland ( Denmark ) and was a thing site in the Viking Age .

The hill

The long hill is probably composed of several hills. It is 54 meters wide and three meters high. The five holes in the hill were not created by archaeological research. Hov Dås is one of the relatively many long hills in Thy. In contrast to the rest of Denmark, there are hardly any dolmens from the Stone Age in the long hills of Thy . Most of these North Jutland burial mounds come from the bronze ; some from the Iron Age .

The Hov Dås is a popular destination. From the 46 m high point you have a beautiful view of Feggeklit, Salgjerhøj and Skarrehage on the island of Mors .

The suffix Hov can be found on both sides of the Skagerrak ( Oppland , Oslofjord , Thy). It can also be found in theophoric combinations such as Froihov, Norderhov (= Njardarhov) and Torshov.
