Hovhannes XII. Arsharouni
Archbishop Hovhannes XII. Assarouni ( Turkish İstanbullu XII. Hovahannes Arşaruni ; * 1854 in Constantinople , Ottoman Empire ; † January 21, 1929 ibid) was the Armenian Apostolic Patriarch of Constantinople from 1911 to 1913 .
Born in the Topkapi district of Constantinople, Hovhannes Arscharouni attended Galatasaray High School . He taught in local Armenian schools and was ordained a minister of the Armenian Church in 1879. In 1899 he was also ordained bishop. In 1911 he was elected patriarch , but resigned after a two-year term in 1913. He died on January 21, 1929 and was buried in the Şişli Armenian Cemetery .
