The brackish water lake Murighiol ( Romanian Sărăturile Murighiol ) is a protected area in nature and landscape protection of the IUCN Category IV biotope and species protection area ( biotope complex ) in the National Park Biosphere Reserve Danube Delta . It is located on the area of ​​the Murighiol municipality , in the Tulcea district , in Romania .

The brackish water lake Murighiol was designated a nature reserve of national importance by law number 5 of March 6, 2000 and court order number 2.151 of November 30, 2004 . As part of the National Park Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, he is part of the World Heritage of UNESCO .

The brackish water lake Murighiol is located south of the Sfântu-Gheorghe-Arms , on the area of ​​the villages Murighiol and Plopu . With a length of two kilometers and a maximum width of 500 meters, it covers an area of ​​0.87 km². The brackish water lake Sărături-Murighiol was designated in 2000 as a biotope for species protection according to the guidelines of the IUCN.

The brackish water lake Murighiol was placed under nature protection to protect the bird life of the islands in the middle of the lake.
