Lake Rotundu ( Romanian Lacul Rotundu ) is a protected area in nature and landscape protection of the IUCN Category IV biotope and species protection area ( water and bird sanctuary ) in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve National Park . It is located on the area of ​​the city of Isaccea , in the Tulcea district , in Romania .

By law number 5 of March 6, 2000 and court order number 2.151 of November 30, 2004, Lake Răducu was designated a nature reserve of national importance. As part of the National Park Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, he is part of the World Heritage of UNESCO .

The Rotundu Lake has an area of ​​2.28 km² and is a typical lake for floodable Danube floodplains. It is part of the Somova-Parches lake complex and was the only one to be spared from containment. The lake was designated as a biotope for species protection in 2000 according to the guidelines of the IUCN. It is of particular importance for the study and preservation of biocenoses that have adapted to larger water level fluctuations and for the preservation of numerous fish species.

Bleak ( Alburnus alburnus ), bream ( Abramis brama ), pikeperch ( Sander lucioperca ), ruff ( Gymnocephalus cernua ), river perch ( Perca fluviatilis ) and various carp species can be found here in unusually large numbers.

The flora is characteristic of wetlands. Here grow Bodden-rush ( Juncus gerardii ), swamp milkweed ( Euphorbia palustris ), water chestnut ( Trapa natans ), Salvinia natans ( Salvinia natans ), spreading the Water crowfoot ( Ranunculus circinatus ), ranunculus trichophyllus ( Ranunculus trichophyllus ) Summer snowflake ( Leucojum aestivum ), large mermaid ( Najas marina ), common water hose ( Utricularia vulgaris ).
