It has been released in Japan since 2014 and has been adapted as a manga and anime television series. The manga appears in German as How not to Summon a Demon Lord .

In the MMORPG Cross Reverie , the student Takuma Sakamoto is unbeatable and notorious as "Demon Lord" Diablo. He beats all opponents with ease - and also many of the teammates he doesn't like. But outside of the game, Sakamoto is insecure and avoids social contact. Then he is summoned to an alien world, very similar to that of the game, in which he takes on the role of his character Diablo, including his skills. The elf Shera L. Greenwood and the cat girl Rem Galleu argue over which of the two has summoned him and both want to enslave him. But their magic is thrown back by Diablo's power, so that the two girls become his slaves. The young person tries to fill the role of the powerful demon, but often fails because of his own insecurity in dealing with the girls. After all, he also wants to help them achieve their goals for which he was summoned. So he should defeat the demon king Krebskulm.

Book publications

The light novel has been published by Kodansha in Japan since December 2014 . So far, 12 volumes have come out. An English translation is published by J-Novel Club.

An implementation of the story as a manga, written by Yukiya Murasaki and drawn by Naoto Fukuda , has been published by Kodansha since June 2015 in the magazine Suiyōbi no Sirius and online with Niconico Sega . The chapters have also appeared in ten edited volumes so far. Volume 8 sold over 40,000 copies in the first two weeks after its release.

A German translation of the manga has been published by Kazé since October 2019 . It is published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment .

Anime

At Studio Ajiado , the material was adapted as an anime for Japanese television in 2018 . Directed by Yūta Murano and written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu . The character design was created by Shizue Kaneko and the artistic direction was by Hotaka Okamoto . The total of 12 episodes were broadcast from July 5 to September 20, 2018 on AT-X , Tokyo MX , FNS and Sun TV . At the same time, an international publication with subtitles in German and English took place on the Crunchyroll platform . An English dubbed version was later released by Madman Entertainment in Australia and New Zealand and by Manga Entertainment in the UK and Ireland.

The music for the series was composed by Yusuke Kato . The opening credits are underlaid with the song Decide by Summonars 2+ and the closing title is Saiaku na Hi demo Anata ga Suki. ( 最 悪 な 日 で も あ な た が 好 き。 ) by Yū Serizawa .
