How to Be Indie (Original title: How to Be Indie ) is a Canadian children's series that aired in two seasons from October 2, 2009 to October 24, 2011.

The series revolves around indie, a junior high school student . On the one hand, she tries to cope with her stressful everyday school life and the high expectations of her strict parents, who come from India . Her best friends Marlon Parks and Abigail "Abi" Flores help her with this.

How to Be Indie premiered on October 2, 2009 on Canadian television station YTV . The second season, which, like the first, comprises 26 episodes, was produced from summer 2010 and broadcast from November 4, 2010. The episode How to Get Smooched forms the finale of the second season and also of the series and was broadcast on October 24, 2011.   • Jyoti Mehta ( Ellora Patnaik ) is Indie's tradition-conscious mother. She likes to show off Chandra in front of her relatives.
  • Vikram Mehta ( Vijay Mehta ) is Indie's father.
  • Prakash Mehta ( Errol Sitahal ) is Indie's paternal grandpa. He is called "Babaji" in the family.
