Howell Glynne
Howell Glynne (born January 24, 1906 in Swansea , † November 24, 1969 in Toronto ) was a British opera singer (bass) and vocal teacher.
Glynne was first bassist at Sadler's Wells and the Covent Garden Opera . From 1963 he was a member of the Canadian Opera Company , from 1964 he taught at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. His repertoire included roles such as Zuniga in Carmen , Hermann in Tannhäuser , the Frog in Die Fledermaus , Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia , Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly , the Plunkett in Martha and the title role in Don Pasquale . In 1964 he took part in the world premiere of Harry Somers ' Louis Riel .
