The Hrvatski ovčar (pronounced: hrwatski owtschar) is a breed of dogs from Croatia recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 1, Section 1, Standard No. 277 ).

Origin and history

The Hrvatski ovčar comes from the Slavonia , Bačka and Baranja regions on the Hungarian border. It is closely related to the Hungarian Mudi . Such dogs have been used as herding dogs in the plains of Slavonia for centuries .

description

At up to 50 centimeters and 16 kilograms, he is a medium-sized German Shepherd with erect or tilted ears. The dog's coat is medium to long and soft, with short head and limbs. It is wavy to frizzy and the basic color is black, sometimes with white markings.
