In the story of the three kingdoms

Little is known historically about Hua Xiong, but his character is further developed in the novel The Story of the Three Kingdoms . In Chapter 5 he occupies the Sishui Pass against the coalition.

After defeating the four generals Bao Zhong , Zu Mao , Yu She and Pan Feng, his opponents consider him invincible. Despite the allies' skepticism, Guan Yu , who at that time was only a simple mounted archer , offers himself up for a duel against Hua Xiong. Cao Cao offers him a hot wine beforehand, but Guan Yu refuses and says he will return soon. When he returned after a short time with the head of Hua Xiong, the wine is still warm.
