Hubert Fuchs

Hubert Wolfgang Albert Fuchs (born January 13, 1969 in St. Johann im Pongau ) is an Austrian tax advisor, politician ( FPÖ ) and former State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Life

Fuchs grew up in Bischofshofen and graduated from the Missionsprivatgymnasium St. Rupert in 1987 . He then completed a year abroad in New Mexico . In 1993 he completed his degree in law at the University of Salzburg , and in 1994 he was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD. The diploma thesis and dissertation were also recognized for the business administration studies completed in 2003 at the Vienna University of Economics and Business .

Fuchs is professionally active as a tax advisor . After his military service, he remained associated with the Austrian armed forces as a member of the militia ; he has been a brigadier since the end of 2018.

Political career

On October 29, 2013, Hubert Fuchs moved into the National Council through the Vienna North regional constituency , where he was deputy chairman of the finance committee and a member of the national defense committee and several sub-committees.

In December 2017 he became State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance . On May 22, 2019, he was released at his own request as a result of the Ibiza affair .

On May 24, 2019, he resumed his seat on the National Council.

In the context of the Casinos Austria affair , Fuchs is accused of having exploited his position as State Secretary. He is said to have made legal changes dependent on the approval of a post by a politician close to the FPÖ and to have put pressure on the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Casinos Austria AG. Fuchs denies these allegations.
