Hubert Gabrielse

Hubert "Hu" Gabrielse (born March 1, 1926 in Golden (British Columbia) ) is a Canadian geologist. He is best known for researching the geology of the Northern Cordillera .

Gabrielse graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor's degree in 1948 and a master's degree in 1950 and received her doctorate in geology from Columbia University in 1955 . From 1953 he was with the Geological Survey of Canada , where he headed the Cordilleras Section from 1970 to 1979. In 1991 he retired. He was involved in the Canadian Lithoprobe project.

In 1990 he received the Ambrose Medal of the Geological Association of Canada and in 2000 the Logan Medal . He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada .
