Hubert Meunier (born December 14, 1959 in Differdange , Luxembourg ) is a former Luxembourg football player .

Career

society

Meunier played for FC Progrès Niederkorn , Jeunesse Esch and Avenir Beggen between 1975 and 1990 . With these clubs he won a total of five Luxembourg championships and was three times cup winner . He played six games in the European Champions Cup , four games in the European Cup Winners' Cup and four games in the UEFA Cup . He scored his only goal in the European Cup on September 16, 1981 in a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the first round of the national championship cup against Glentoran FC . In 1990 he returned from Beggen to FC Progrès, where he ended his active career after one season.

National team

Meunier played a first game for the Luxembourg national team on October 7, 1978 in the 1: 3 defeat in the European Championship qualifier against France . He had his last appearance on June 1, 1989 in the World Cup qualifier against Belgium, which ended with a 0-5 defeat for the Luxembourgers.

In total, he completed 54 international matches in which he remained without a goal. He wore the captain's armband of the Luxembourg selection twelve times.
