Hubert Wicker

Hubert Wicker (born September 12, 1948 in Ebingen , today in Albstadt ) was Ministerial Director in the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Housing of the State of Baden-Württemberg from June 1, 2016 to September 2017 . Before that he was director of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . Since July 1, 2018, State Secretary a. D. Honorary President of the Baden-Württemberg Leadership Academy.

Professional career

After studying law in Tübingen , Wicker passed the first state examination in 1974 and the second state examination in 1977. After a brief activity as a lawyer, he was parliamentary advisor in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg between 1978 and 1984. He then worked for seven years in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior , most recently as deputy head of the road construction department.

After reunification, Wicker moved to the new federal states and was State Secretary and Head of Office in the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior there from 1991 to 1997 . In 1997 he returned to his homeland and became regional president in the regional council of Tübingen .

In July 2006, Wicker became Ministerial Director in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Finance . On July 16, 2007, Prime Minister Günther Oettinger appointed him State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery in the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg. Wicker represented the head of government in administrative matters. Under the leadership of Wicker, the ministerial heads of office discussed the weekly cabinet meeting.

From 2011 to 2016 he was director of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg. Since June 1, 2016, Hubert Wicker has been Ministerial Director in the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Housing of the State of Baden-Württemberg. He retired at the end of September 2017.

On July 1, 2018, Hubert Wicker was appointed President of the Baden-Württemberg Management Academy .

Hubert Wicker was also the state government's church commissioner. Hubert Wicker is honorary chairman and founder of the Swabian Dialect Association and Deputy Chairman of the Museum Society in Tübingen. He was also deputy chairman of the Association of Friends of the Archabbey of St. Martin in Beuron for 15 years.

Hubert Wicker has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Childhood Cancer Care Foundation since 2008 - the foundation for chronically ill children in Tannheim near Villingen-Schwenningen, which supports families with chronically ill children. Hubert Wicker has been Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Albertus Magnus School Foundation in Stuttgart and a member of the Tübingen District Council since July 2014. He has been legal counsel for the DRK district association in Tübingen since 2016.
