The Hubertusbrunnen is a fountain in the west of Munich . It is located at the eastern end of the Nymphenburg Canal , north of the Grünwald Park . The fountain was built as a roofed temple between 1903 and 1907 based on a design by Adolf von Hildebrand with Carl Sattler and was dedicated to the Prince Regent Luitpold .
Inside the building is the actual fountain and the statue of a deer . A figure of St. Hubert stands on the roof of the fountain house. According to the Hubertus legend, the deer in the fountain house carries a cross between the antlers.
The original location of the fountain was the square in front of the Bavarian National Museum on Prinzregentenstrasse , where it was built from 1903 to 1907. The figures in the niches were added in 1921. In 1937 it was dismantled and rebuilt in 1954 at its current location.
