Huckleberry Finn ( Japanese ハ ッ ク ル ベ リ ィ の 冒 険 , Hakkuruberii no Bōken ) is an anime television series by Group TAC and Nippon Herald from 1976. It is based on the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain . In the 1990s, the series was edited as a film and remade as an original video animation .

Huckleberry Finn was taken in by the widow Douglas, who tried to raise him. But his father kidnaps him and Huck can only escape by faking his death. On an island he meets Jim, slave of the widow Douglas' sister. Together they build a raft and flee on the Mississippi to gain their freedom.
Production and publication
The series was produced in 1976 by Studio Group TAC and the film distributor Nippon Herald (today: Cineplex ) under the direction of Hiroyoshi Mitsunobu . He was also hired as a producer together with Masakazu Higuchi and Tameo Kohanawa . Mamoru Sasaki wrote the script . It was first broadcast on January 2 through June 25, 1976 on Fuji TV .
A German synchronization of the series was broadcast on Tele 5 from March 15, 1991 . In 1995 it was broadcast by RTL. The anime was shown on Taiwanese television as early as 1978, and later also on French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Portuguese. An English version has also been published.

The music for the series was composed by Nobuyoshi Koshibe . The opening credits are Hora Huckleberry Finn ( ほ ら ハ ッ ク ル ベ リ ィ ・ フ ィ ン ) by Horie Mitsuko and Korogi '73. From these comes the final title Kawa no Uta ( 河 の う stammt ).
Adaptations
An 86 minute long compilation of the series as a film was released in Japan in 1991. In 1993 a six-part original video animation for the series was released in Japan . Each episode of the OVA has a running time of 50 minutes. It was directed by Norio Kashima and the script was written by Koichi Mizuide and Saburo Ebinuma .
A remake of the material by Mark Twain came in 1994 as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn ( ハ ッ ク ル ベ リ ー ・ フ ィ ン 物語 , Huckleberry Finn Monogatari ) on Japanese and later on German television.
