The Hugo-Ball-Gymnasium is a state high school in Pirmasens . It is named after the Dadaist poet and writer Hugo Ball , who was born in Pirmasens in 1886.

history

The school was founded in 1870 as a private school for secondary daughters . In 1883 it was taken over by the city of Pirmasens as the “Municipal Higher Daughter School”. Since 1960 the school has been administered as a "State High School (modern language, social science)" by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate; In 1983 it got its current name.

Educational offers

At the Hugo Ball Gymnasium, the foreign languages ​​English, French, Latin, Italian and Spanish are offered as subjects; A student exchange is carried out regularly with the IIS Giuseppe & Quintino Sella in Biella .

The school was named “MEDIENSCOUTSCHULE.rlp” in 2014 for its many years of work with media scouts , and since 2014 it has also been certified as a MINT- friendly school.

Since the beginning of the 2015/16 school year, the Hugo-Ball-Gymnasium has been offering all-day school for students in grades 5 to 10 .

Awards

In 2014 one of the school's high school graduates was awarded the Pierre de Coubertin high school diploma from the State Sports Association of Rhineland-Palatinate .

In 2015, three high school students won first place in the regional competition Jugend forscht - students experiment in the chemistry category with the contribution of chestnut detergents - the saponins make it possible .
