Hugo Borbeck

C. Hugo Borbeck (* 27. February 1881 in Bärenstein at the verses in Werdohl ; † 22. April 1956 ) was a German mechanical engineering - engineering and industrial managers in the metalworking industry.

Life

Born as the son of the factory director C. Borbeck and Emma Borbeck geb. Hüsmert, Hugo Borbeck studied mechanical engineering after attending the trade school in Hagen and two years of practical work as a locksmith at the Technical University of Karlsruhe , where he became a member of the Corps Cheruskia . From 1902 to 1903 he did his military service as a one-year volunteer with the Guard Foot Artillery Regiment.

After completing his studies, he initially worked for several years as an engineer for various German machine factories. In mid-1908 he became the technical director of the company Basse & Selve in Altena , later Selve AG. In the First World War he took part as a reserve officer on the Western Front, most recently as a captain of the reserve. After the merger of Selve AG with Carl Berg AG in Werdohl and C. Heckmann AG , he became a board member of Berg-Heckmann-Selve AG in 1924 . After the foundation of the Vereinigte Deutsche Metallwerke AG (VDM) , which was created in 1930 through the takeover of Heddernheimer Kupferwerk and Süddeutsche Kabelwerk AG in Frankfurt am Main by Berg-Heckmann-Selve AG , he became a member of the board of VDM, where he remained until his Retirement 1951 responsible for the technical management of all plants of the former Basse & Selve .

Borbeck had been chairman of the technical standards committee for non-ferrous metals since the 1920s . Since 1942 he was chairman of the technical standards committee for metals. He was also a member of the supervisory board of the Altenaer Eisenbahn AG district and the non-profit building association in Altena.
