Hugo Collet

Hugo Collet (born September 15, 1921 in Völklingen (Saar), † December 19, 1993 in Pirmasens ) was a German SPD politician .

After successfully completing his Abitur, he was initially a worker, interpreter, office manager, head of human resources, and managing director until March 1967.

In 1941 he was drafted into the Navy and after a shipwreck he was taken prisoner of war by the English (later Canadian) in the same year, from which he returned in 1946.

He then began active trade union work in the ÖTV , HBV and DGB . Most recently he was district chairman of the DGB district of West Palatinate; In 1987 he was elected deputy district chairman of the HBV union.

His political career began later. He was a co-founder of the Pirmasens district association of the European Union , chairman of the Pirmasens- Zweibrücken sub-district of the SPD , member of the Palatinate district board and deputy chairman of the working group for employee issues in the SPD (AfA).

In 1960 he became city councilor in Pirmasens and from 1964 parliamentary group chairman. A year later he became a member of the German Bundestag and remained so until 1987. Until 1983 he was a member of the Council of Elders.
