Hugo Duminil-Copin
Hugo Duminil-Copin (born August 26, 1985 in Châtenay-Malabry ) is a French mathematician.
Duminil-Copin attended the Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris and studied at the École normal supérieure and the University of Paris XI . In 2011 he received his doctorate from the University of Geneva under Stanislaw Smirnow . He stayed in Geneva as a post-doctoral student and is an assistant professor there. He also conducts research at the Weizmann Institute and has also been a visiting scientist at the IMPA several times . Since 2016 he has been a professor at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques ( IHÉS ) in Bures-sur-Yvette , France
It deals with the interface of probability theory , combinatorics and mathematical physics, in particular two-dimensional stochastic models, the compliant structure and its critical behavior as percolation theory , is self-avoiding random walks (Self Avoiding Random Walk ), random cluster model , Ising model , Potts model . Duminil-Copin made advances on important problems in this area. Smirnov, proving that the connection constant (constant connectivity) in the hexagonal honeycomb grating , that is the number of self-avoiding Direction random paths of length grows asymptotically with . With Vincent Beffara he determined the critical points for the random cluster model (they proved a long open conjecture that the critical point is equal to the self-dual point ) and the Potts model on square grids, and with Alan Hammond he proved that self-avoiding random Walks are sub-ballistic .
Further work concerns bootstrap percolation and random walk in random environments.
In 2012 he received the Rollo Davidson Prize and in 2013 the Oberwolfach Prize . In 2016 he received the EMS Prize . For 2017 he was awarded the New Horizons in Mathematics Prize , the Prix Jacques Herbrand and the Loève Prize . In 2019 Duminil-Copin was elected to the Academia Europaea .
