Hugo Fernández Vallejo (born February 2, 1945 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player on the position of defender , who worked as a coach after his active career .

Life

player

Hugo Fernández began his professional career in the early 1960s with the Club Nacional de Football , with which he was Uruguayan football champion twice (1963 and 1966) . After various other positions, he played between 1972 and 1975 and again in his last season in 1980/81 for Peñarol , the other big club in Uruguay, with which he won four other championship titles in the years 1973 to 1975 and 1981 (see also below "Success as a player" section).

Trainer

He was also the head coach of the two big rivals of Uruguayan football and coached Peñarol first in 1984 and later Nacional from 1994 to 1995. However, he won his only two titles as a coach with the Mexican club Puebla FC ( cup winners 1987/88 ) and Dorados de Sinaloa ( second division champions in the Clausura 2007). If understandable, the Dorados were his last coaching station so far.

further activities

Since 2011 he has been working for Puebla FC again , this time in the role of sports director.
