Hugo II of Saint-Omer

Hugo II of Saint-Omer († 1204 ) was titular prince of Galilee . As such he was also called Hugo II of Tiberias .

He is the eldest son of Walter von Saint-Omer , Prince of Galilee and his wife Eschiva von Bures .

After the death of his father around 1174 his mother married Count Raimund III. of Tripoli , who took over the government of the principality from their rights. In June 1179 Hugo was captured in a battle against the Ayyubid Sultan Saladin near Marj Uyun , and his mother obtained his release for a ransom. In 1187 the Principality of Galilee was conquered by Saladin and Raimund died in the same year. Hugo then inherited the title of Prince of Galilee, while his principality remained occupied by the Ayyubids until long after his death, until 1204.

Hugo married Margarethe von Ibelin, daughter of Balian von Ibelin .

When Hugo died in 1204, his brother Rudolf von Saint-Omer inherited the titular principality of Galilee. After his death, his wife Margarethe married Walter Garnier, Lord of Caesarea .
