Hugo Laemmer

Hugo Laemmer (born January 25, 1835 in Olsztyn , † January 6, 1918 in Breslau ) was a German Catholic theologian .

Life

His parents were the court clerk Eduard Laemmer, who worked in Allenstein (Olsztyn), and his wife Karolina, daughter of the mayor of Alone Steiner Anton Ehlert. After visiting the Altstädtischer Gymnasium in Königsberg studied Hugo lambs philosophy and Protestant theology in Konigsberg and from 1853 in Leipzig, where he in the following year for Dr. phil. PhD. In 1855 he moved to Berlin, where he received his doctorate in 1856 as Lic. Theol. and worked as a religion teacher. In 1857 he qualified as a professor at the Theological Faculty in Berlin for "Historical Theology".

On November 21, 1858, Laemme converted to Catholicism and entered the Lyceum Hosianum three days later . He was ordained a priest on July 24, 1859. In the same year he received his doctorate as Dr. theol. in Wroclaw. He then worked at the Lyceum Hosianum as Subregens and, in 1864, briefly as professor of moral theology. From 1864 to 1916 he taught as a professor at the University of Breslau, initially dogmatics (until 1882), from 1871 to 1896 also church history and from 1884 canon law. One of his students was Max Sdralek , who took over the chair for church history.
