Hugo Meiser

Hugo Meiser (born July 25, 1921 ; † 1993 ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was first deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission and deputy minister for ore mining, metallurgy and potash in the GDR .

Life

After serving in the air force from 1941 to 1945, Meiser worked from 1946 as a consultant in the Mecklenburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Meiser joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in 1947 and worked as a department head in the office for economic planning of the Mecklenburg state government. In 1949/1950 he headed the main department “Material Supply” of the state government of Mecklenburg , from 1950 the main department “Inner German Trade, Foreign Trade and Material Procurement”.

From 1951 to 1956 he was deputy state secretary for material supply, from 1956 to 1958 he was deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission (SPK) of the GDR. From 1958 to 1959 he worked as a secretary in the SPK. From 1960 to 1971 he was first deputy or deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission, where he was responsible, among other things, for the coordination of long-term plans and annual economic plans, and most recently for international economic cooperation and foreign trade. He was also a representative of the SPK in the Council for Mutual Economic Aid (Comecon) in Moscow . From 1971 to 1987 he was Deputy Minister for Ore Mining, Metallurgy and Potash in the GDR.
