Hugo Montgomery
Hugo Josias Carl Montgomery (born January 6, 1932 ) is a Swedish classical philologist who taught in Norway for a long time.
Montgomery studied at Uppsala University , where he became an assistant in 1958. From 1960 he was there scholarship and worked on his doctoral thesis, which he in 1965 received his doctorate .
After completing his doctorate, he first worked as a university lecturer, from 1967 as an assistant professor of ancient history at the University of Bergen , before becoming professor of classical philology at the University of Oslo . He retired in 2002 and has lived in Sweden again since then. He is an external member of the Polish Academy of Learning in Cracow .
His wife is the professor of church history Ingun Montgomery .
