Hugo Pineda (born May 10, 1962 in Tampico , Tamaulipas ) is a former Mexican football goalkeeper who was under contract with various clubs and, with the exception of his long-standing club America, was always a regular goalkeeper.

Life

Between 1983 and 1990 Pineda was under contract with his hometown club Tampico-Madero FC . When this retired at the end of the 1989/90 season from the Mexican Primera División , Pineda moved to the Leones Negros , with whom he won the Mexican Cup competition in his first season in 1990/91 . For the 1992/93 season he moved to the UAT Correcaminos and played the games in the quarterfinals and semifinals for Club America in the Liguillas that followed the regular season . After he returned to the Leones Negros and then spent one season each in the service of Club Atlante and Atlético Celaya , he was again under contract with Club América for a total of five years in two stages between 1996 and 2002 and won with the Americanistas his first and only championship title in Torneo Verano 2002 ( second half of the 2001/02 season). While Pineda acted as a goalkeeper at all other clubs, he was only used irregularly at his long-standing club América.

His last game in the top Mexican division played Pineda on March 8, 2003 for Real San Luis against Chivas Guadalajara (0-2).

National team

Between his first international match on January 17, 1987 against El Salvador (3-1) and his last international match on June 13, 1997 against Colombia (2-1), Pineda played a total of 18 appearances for the Mexican national team .
