Hugo Rex

Hugo Rex (born January 9, 1861 in Prague , Austrian Empire ; † August 13, 1936 there ) was an Austrian doctor . He discovered the internal structure of the liver.

Life

After studying at the University of Prague , during which he was active in Corps Austria , the doctorate to Dr. med. and subsequent habilitation , Rex was appointed professor of anatomy in Prague. In 1888 he published the results of his research on the vascular architecture and internal structure of the mammalian liver. Based on the portal vascular architecture, he divided the liver into segments. He thus laid the basis for all future liver research.

His brother was the painter Oscar Rex .
