Life

Hugo Sánchez Portugal was born in the Spanish capital in 1984 when his father Hugo Sánchez was under contract with Atlético Madrid . However, he always had Mexican citizenship.

While his father is a football idol in his native Mexico, Sánchez Portugal's sporting career has been short and insignificant.

In the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons he was under contract with his father's long-term club, the UNAM Pumas , but only made five appearances in the top Mexican division . Nevertheless, during the same period he was part of the squad of the Pumas team, which won both championships in 2004 and was coached by Hugo Sánchez Senior at that time. After his time with the Pumas, he moved to Club Atlante , where he was not used at all.

Sánchez Portugal died at the age of 30 in his apartment in Colonia Polanco, Mexico City, of gas poisoning caused by a leaking pipe.
