Hugo Scheinert

Hugo Scheinert (* 1873 in Breslau ; † 1943 in Jannowitz , Lower Silesia ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

From 1902 he was a teacher of drawing and writing at the Royal Art and Applied Arts School in Breslau (from 1911 Art Academy). He was a member of the Silesian Artists' Union .

As a result of the teaching activity he began in 1902 at the Breslau Academy, Scheinert had to give up a private school he ran and his artistic work at a porcelain factory. It was continued in the work with his students until 1925, which was followed by restoration orders for the Silesian Museum of Antiquities and Applied Arts as well as the design of book covers for the Wilhelm Gottlieb Korn publishing house. He was also known for his bookplate Designs.

Hugo Scheinert lived and worked in the last years of his life in Jannowitz in the Giant Mountains in Lower Silesia .
