Hugo Sconochini (born April 10, 1971 in Cañada de Gómez , Argentina ) is a retired Argentine basketball player . Sconochini was Olympic champion with the Argentine national team at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens .

Career

Hugo Sconochini began his professional career in 1989 with the Argentine club Cañada de Gómez where he was under contract for one season. With his move in 1990 after Europe began for the shooting guard a successful career in which he mainly in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A was active.

After a total of six years with Viola Reggio Calabria, Olimpia Milan and Virtus Rome, Sconochini moved to Panathinaikos Athens in 1996, where he won the first professional title of his career with the Intercontinental Cup that same year . After just one year, Sconochini moved back to the Italian league to Virtus Bologna. At Bologna he played for four seasons and was to experience the most successful phase of his career. In addition to two championships and just as many successes in the Italian Cup, Sconochini was able to win the European Cup in 1998 and the ULEB Euroleague , which was held for the first time in 2001. After a one-year stay in Spain , where he won the Copa del Rey with TAU Cerámica in 2002 , Sconochini returned to Italy in 2002, where he played for his previous clubs Olimpia Milano and Virtus Roma.

From 2007 Sconochini no longer played professionally in lower-class Italian leagues, initially with the fifth division UC Piacentina, with whom he rose to the fourth-highest division "Serie B Dilettanti" in 2009. While this club rose to the second division in the 2011/12 season, Sconochini played for other amateur teams until 2012.

National team

Sconochini achieved his greatest success with the Argentine national team in 2004 when he won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Athens . At the 2002 World Cup he finished second with Argentina. Another significant success was the gold medal at the 2001 American Championships in his own country.
