Hugo von Hasenburg
Hugo von Hasenburg (* unknown; † May 15, 1180 ) was Bishop of Basel from 1179/1180 .
Hugo von Hasenburg was a son of Heinrich von Hasenburg, one of the lords of Hasenburg , whose Hasenburg Castle had stood on an isolated rocky hill near the village of Asuel since the 11th century .
He was first canon in 1145 in Saint-Ursanne and then in 1169 in Basel . From 1173 to 1179 he was provost of Saint-Ursanne and then in 1179/1180 as Bishop of Basel. He was buried in the northern adjoining room of the choir of the Basel Minster . His grave contained as grave goods a silver chalice and a silver paten , a gold ring and a wooden, crowned with a bird body Pedum . The bishop's staff is formally reminiscent of a tawab . There were also remains of silk fabric from the 10th – 12th centuries. Century.
The only mention of his episcopate comes from a document from April 1180.
