Huguette Bouchardeau
Huguette Bouchardeau (born June 1, 1935 in Saint-Étienne , Loire department ) is a French writer and former politician of the Parti socialiste unifié (PSU), who was national secretary of the PSU between 1979 and 1981 as well as her party's candidate for the presidential election in 1981 . She was also Minister of the Environment from 1984 to 1986 and a member of the National Assembly (Assemblée nationale) between 1986 and 1993 .
Life
Huguette Bouchardeau began to study philosophy at the University of Lyon after attending school and received the Agrégation in 1961 . During her studies, she was involved in the student association UNEF ( Union nationale des étudiants de France ) . She was initially a member of the Union of the Socialist Left UGS (Union de la gauche socialiste) and in 1960 was one of the co-founders of the United Socialist Party PSU ( Parti socialiste unifié ) alongside Pierre Mendès France , Édouard Depreux , Gilles Martinet and Jean Poperen . After completing her studies, she was initially a philosophy teacher at the Lycée Honoré-d'Urfé in Saint-Étienne and then in 1970 as an assistant professor ( Maître de conférences ) at the University of Lyon II . He was also involved in the national union of secondary school teachers SNEF (Syndicat national des enseignements de second degré) as well as in the national unions for education FEN (Fédération de l'Éducation nationale) and SGET (Syndicat général de l'Éducation nationale) , which for the French Democratic Trade Union Confederation CFDT ( Confédération française démocratique du travail ) . In the European elections on June 10, 1979, the top candidate in the PSU list, List Europe - Autogestion présentée par le PSU , which came last among the eleven lists with only 332 votes (0.00 percent).
As the successor to Michel Mousel , Huguette Bouchardeau became national secretary of the PSU in 1979 as well as party chairman and held this position until 1981, after which Jacques Salvator took over her position. In the presidential election in 1981 she was a candidate for the PSU, but with 321,353 votes (1.1 percent) in the first ballot on April 26, 1981, she was only last among the ten candidates. In the third Cabinet Mauroy she took between 22 March 1983 to 17 July 1984, the office of Secretary of State for the Environment and Quality of Life (Secrétaire d'Etat chargée de l'Environnement et de la Qualité de la vie) , triggering Michel Crépeau from who, however, was previously Environment Minister. In the following Fabius cabinet she then acted as Environment Minister (Ministre de l'Environnement) between July 17, 1984 and March 20, 1986 .
After she left the PSU in 1986, Huguette Bouchardeau was elected for the first time in the parliamentary elections on March 16, 1986 as a non-partisan left member of the National Assembly (Assemblée nationale) and represented it after his re-election on June 5, 1988 between April 2 1986 and June 13, 1993 the Doubs department . She joined the socialist group and then in January 1992 the reform movement Mouvement des réformateurs (MDR). After leaving parliament, she was mayor of Aigues-Vives , a small town in the Gard department, from 1995 to 2001 .
