Hukuntsi is a village in Botswan's Kgalagadi District in the Kalahari .

Hukuntsi, "many places", is one of the four main places in the Kalahari. The place is 114 km west of Kang off the Trans-Kalahari trunk road . According to the 2011 census, 4,654 people live in Hukuntsi. They mainly belong to the Bangologa, a Bakgalagadi tribe.

Hukuntsi is the capital of the sub-district Kgalagadi North. Furthermore, the state central agricultural administration, an infirmary and a hospital, three primary schools and a secondary school are located in the village. There are tourist and utility facilities.

With the Hukuntsi Airport, the place has an airport ( IATA : HUK).

The winter nights are very cold; there are also strong winds in August.

Hukuntsi was one of the two most important bases of the Kang Hukuntsi Mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia , which began in the 1970s and was supported by the United Evangelical Mission , the former Rhenish Mission Society . From these encounters a partnership developed between the south-western parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Botswana (ELCB), which also includes the Lutheran Christians from Hukuntsi, and the Rhenish parish of Simmern-Trarbach .
