The Hulmen is 686 m above sea level. M. the highest point in the city of Winterthur in the canton of Zurich .
geography
The Hulmen is located on the eastern edge of Winterthur in the lakes district. Part of the Hulmen in the east also belongs to Schlatt ZH , but the highest point is located exclusively in the municipality of Winterthur. The Hulmen is surrounded by the Winterthurer Aussenwachten Eidberg in the west and Ricketwil in the north as well as the village of Waltenstein belonging to the municipality of Schlatt . The Hulmen also drops more steeply to the Mattenbach in the north and Bolsterenbach in the south.
Half of the forest in the urban area is owned by the city (part of the former civil parish of Eidberg) and half is owned by various private owners.
geology
In the north and south, the Hulmen consists mainly of tertiary layers of the Upper Freshwater Molasse , which formed five to 16 million years ago. However, there are also younger, Quaternary deposits from the last Ice Age on the high plateau . There is also clay on the slopes .
Loop around Winterthur
The Hulmen is crossed in a stage of the circular route around Winterthur leading from Eidberg to Tolhusen .
