history

Memorial for the teachers and students of the Realschule with Progymnasium Radeberg who fell in World War I.

The institution was founded in 1899 as a municipal high school for boys. In 1904 it was recognized as a Realschule with Progymnasium, and when a senior prima was opened in 1925, it was called Realgymnasium mit Realschule. From 1938 onwards it called itself the “Municipal High School for Boys” , although girls were also taught. After the Second World War , the new name "Humboldt School" was given in autumn 1946 as part of the renaming of all Radeberg schools proposed by the Radeberg City Administration and approved by the Soviet City Command , and in 1959, 13 years later, it was given the name "Extended Humboldt School" Radeberg ” . In 1982 this school was closed, the students had to go to Dresden or Bischofswerda . With the political change , the grammar school was reopened and called itself first from 1990 "Humboldtschule" (grammar school under construction) and then from 1992 "Humboldt-Gymnasium Radeberg" . Delays in the renovation, reconstruction and expansion of the old buildings did not allow them to move back into the former location on Freudenberg until winter 2000. Until then, the former school building on Waldstrasse was also used.

Support association

The Humboldtiana Association was founded on October 11, 1991 to support the establishment and running of the school. Together with the city of Radeberg, the Friends' Association awards the Humboldt Prize, endowed with 300 euros, for the overall Abitur 1.0 qualification.
