Location of Hummelsbroich in Bergisch Gladbach |
Hummelsbroich is a district in the Frankenforst district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The name Hummelsbroich comes from the old name Im Hummelsbroich , which is recorded in the original cadastre south of today's Frankenforster Straße in the municipality of Bensberg -Honschaft. The homonymous farm is documented for the year 1348 in the form of Hummelsbruch . It passed into the ownership of the Meer Monastery in the same year when the nobleman Friedrich von Merheim and his wife Maria sold the inherited estate. As a result, in 1519 only meadows in Hummelsbroich are mentioned, which are called "the small and large Homelsbroich".
Wald-Café Hummelsbroich
Until 1978, the Wald-Café Haus Hummelsbroich stood here on Brüderstraße . It was a popular destination because from here you could walk to the Königsforst after just a few meters .
