The district of Böttcherberg

Street at the Böttcherberg

The district of Böttcherberg   in the Frankenforst district to the northwest in the area of the former railway line to Rösrath owes its name to the former name of the An der Bottscherbach , because it was adjacent to the Böttcherbach . The original cadastre records the settlement in the municipality of Bensberg -Honschaft. The defining word Böttcher / Botcher is derived from the Old High German "botecher" (= Fassbinder, Büttner). It denotes the manufacturer of large wooden barrels. Presumably a cooper had his apartment or workshop here. Today the Frankenforst industrial park is here .
