The Baseball & Softball Club Hunters TV Thun is an association in the city of Thun that participates with various teams in the Swiss baseball and softball leagues of the Swiss Baseball and Softball Federation (SBSF). It was founded in 1994 by a teacher and his students with the aim of offering its members the sport of baseball in an organized manner.

Current

In the past 2018 season, the Hunters were relegated from the NLB to the first division. Among the juniors, the Hunters and the Dulliken Truckstars formed a syndicate with the U12 (8th place) and U15 (3rd place group west).

The Hunters will compete in the first division of baseball for the 2019 season. In addition, for the first time with a slowpitch softball team (mixed) in the slow-pitch league division 2. For the juniors, again in a syndicate for the U12 and U15 juniors.

The association was founded in 1994.

The Hunters reached their peak in the 2000s. Various successes with the juniors, two independent junior teams (U12, U15), and an NLB men's team. At that time the number of members was over 60.

In the last 10 years the Hunters could celebrate a total of 4 Swiss championship titles in the U12 and U15. Plus 3 vice championship titles. They have been promoted to the NLB twice. Most recently at the end of 2013 and since then the league could be achieved and in 2016 the NLB playoffs for the first time. In addition to the normal training courses, the Hunters also offer courses in voluntary school sports and the holiday pass. The Hunters currently lead a first division team and a fun team (slow pitch softball) as well as juniors in the U15 and U12 leagues.

Like many other sports and clubs, the Hunters have had problems finding enough officials in recent years. That is why they joined TV Thun as a subsection in 2017 and use the synergies and cooperation with the various sections.

The Hunters have been offering mixed slowpitch softball since 2017. The team played for the first time in autumn in Thun and is scheduled to take part in the SBSF Slowpitch Championship in 2019 .

National player

Since 2000, the Thun Hunters have repeatedly provided junior national players who represent Switzerland at a European Championship. Currently in 2018/19 there are 2 players who are nominated for the U18 national team.

With Tim Wittwer, the Hunters also provided their first elite national player. After his nomination he played in the NLA with the Bern Cardinals . Currently, Regis Reinhard, an elite national player and U23 national player who was trained in Thun and currently plays in the NLA with the Bern Cardinals, is playing again. Both took part in the MLB tryouts in Germany in 2015.

In women's softball, the Hunters have a national player for the first time. Tamara Ammeter played in the U22 national team at the EM in summer 2018. Parallel to the slow-pitch softball with the Hunters, she also plays in the fast-pitch softball team of the Bern Cardinals in the NLA.
