The baseball club Bandits Rapperswil-Jona (Rapperswil-Jona Bandits for short) is a club from Rapperswil-Jona that participates in the Swiss baseball leagues with various teams. The first team plays in the National Baseball League A of the Swiss Baseball and Softball Federation (SBSF).

history

The Bandits were founded on November 13th, 2001 and took part in the 1st league championship for the first time in 2002 with a team. In 2003 the bandits were able to move up to the NLB. In the 2004 season, the first team made promotion. In addition, the rush of new players was so great that a second team could start in the first division. These just failed in qualifying for promotion.

For the 2005 season the league maintenance of the NLA was planned, but this did not succeed and was also a low point in the club's history to date. Due to the misconduct of the then president and other misjudgments in the board, some of the association's buses and the forced relegation to the lowest division were created. This led on the one hand to financial difficulties, as well as to some turbulence within the club, so that several players left the bandits.

The game was then continued with only one team in the first division. In the 2010 season, the Bandits became Swiss champions after a thrilling playoff series and thus rose to the NLB. After a very good 2015 season, the Bandits were promoted back to the top division and are now back in the NLA after 10 years.
