International

In 2008 the first team of the Bern Cardinals became the first baseball club in the history of Swiss baseball to win a European qualifying tournament of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB for short). The Cardinals remained undefeated in the strong tournament in Brno . This success could be repeated in 2009 when the Bernese were able to win the qualification tournament in Attnang-Puchheim (Austria) again. Player-coach John Baum was named Best Pitcher and MVP of the tournament. In 2012 they did the same in Blagoevgrad (BUL), but this time without failing in the subsequent relegation round: The Bern Cardinals were also the first Swiss baseball team to win the 2012 Play-Offs European Cup relegation in Zurich, with Vitus Huber as best batter and John Baum as MVP were honored. With this success, the Bern Cardinals secured the SBSF a place in the CEB European Cup for 2013 , in which the top twelve teams in Europe take part. In this 'Champions League finals' in Regensburg (D) in 2013, the Bernese remained without a win and could not keep Switzerland's place in the top 12 in Europe in the relegation round in Zurich. Thanks to the title defense in the Swiss NLA 2013, the record champions Bern Cardinals were able to participate in the qualification tournament again in 2014 - this time in Stockholm (SVE).
