The Lucerne Eagles (until 2009: Reussbühl Eagles) are a central Swiss club based in Lucerne and Spielfeld in Reussbuehl ( Canton Lucerne ), which participates in the Swiss baseball and softball leagues with men's, women's and junior teams. The correct club name is Baseball & Softball Club Eagles Luzern.

History of origin

On June 12, 1981, the “Eagles baseball club” was officially founded in the Regatta restaurant in Lucerne, based in Reussbühl. Hans Peter Hermann was elected as the first president in the club's history. It was a lucky coincidence that the American Tom Harper offered himself as the first coach of the baseball club to initiate the young Eagles into the art of baseball. As a consequence of the coachless Lucerne White Sox , it was decided to unite the two baseball clubs and perform together under the name "Eagles" from Reussbühl. At the same time, three more baseball clubs were established in Switzerland: the “Flyers” from Basel , the “Challengers” from Zurich and the “Ceresios” from the canton of Ticino . In the fall of 1981 the four baseball clubs founded the Swiss Baseball and Softball Association (SBSV). The Eagles have been playing on their own baseball field in Reussbühl since 1985. In 1989, a ladies and a softball team were added to the club and the official club name was changed to "Baseball & Softball Club Eagles Reussbühl".

At the beginning of the 2014 season, the Eagles Lucerne base & softball club was able to completely renew the infrastructure. With the help of the city of Lucerne, a new field with a backstop, sand infield, spectator stands and an outfield fence was built. Today the club has at its disposal an infrastructure that is unique in Switzerland, with its own playing field and clubhouse.
