biography
Debut album Hurt
The self-titled debut album, of which 1200 copies were published, was recorded and released in 2000. The songs Unkind , U-Bleed , Better , Summers Lost and Abuse of SID can also be found on other albums of the band.
The Consumation
The second studio album was written by Wince and released in 2003. It sold 2000 times and around 3000 free promos were given out. On the cover of the original album, the song Cold Inside is missing from the track list.
A fan later asked the band to reprint the album and then sell it in their shop to support the band. Singer Wince agreed and the album was reprinted one more time with a simplified color scheme. Eventually a copy of the album was bid up to $ 170 on eBay and Wince decided to officially re-release it as The Re-Consumation .
Record deal with Capitol Records
After Hurt released their first two self-produced albums, they were discovered by Tom Lewis, a former editor of Universal Records . After eight months, the band recorded a demo to find a major label . In the process, the then drummer and bassist left Hurt. Tom Lewis later helped the band get a record deal with Capitol Records.
Vol. I and Vol. II
The following two studio albums Vol. I and Vol. II were produced by Eric Greedy and should initially be released at the same time, but this did not work because the band had just signed with Capitol Records.
Vol. I was published in March 2006; it appeared Single compilations taken to Rapture , Falls Apart and Danse Russe .
Vol. II was released in September 2007; Singles for Ten Ton Brick and Loded were released .
Dissolution of the record contract with Capitol Records and the current album
In May 2008, Hurt was informed by Capitol Records that the label would terminate their record deal with them. Although no official reasons were published, Wince assumed that the reasons were "purely financial". As a result, he also stated in interviews that he had had a strong dislike for the record label the whole time, because they had been marketed as a metal band and Capitol Records no longer wanted to reprint and release the albums despite the good sales of 58,000 CDs .
In April 2009 the current album Goodbye to the Machine was released, which so far reached the 112th place on the Billboard 200 charts and of which around 20,000 copies were sold.
