Hussein Bassir

Hussein Bassir ( Arabic حسين عبد البصير Husein ʿAbd al-Bassīr ; * 1973 in Cairo ) is an Egyptian archaeologist and member of the Supreme Council of State for Antiquity.

Among other things, he did research on the pyramids of Giza and was one of the leaders of the excavation group in the valley of the golden mummies of the Bahariya oasis. In 1994 he received his BA in Egyptology from Cairo University . In 2004 he received the MA in Oriental Studies ( "Near Eastern Studies") from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore , Maryland , USA , where he is currently working on his doctorate .

He is also the author of several prose works in Arabic , such as B. In Search of Khnum and The Old Red Hippopotamus .

Before studying in the USA , he worked as a member of the Dr. Zahi Hawass led the archaeological team. He also participated in many archaeological excavations from Egypt. His works include commentaries on Arabic literature and film , Egyptology and archeology . He is currently a member of the Supreme Council of State for Antiquity in the Ministry of Culture of Egypt.
