Huu Phuc Nguyen

Huu Phuc Nguyen , called Hoa (born June 23, 1976 in My Tho , Vietnam ) is a Vietnamese-German human geneticist and director of the human genetics department at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

Life

Nguyen was accepted as a Vietnamese refugee by the Cap Anamur as a child with his parents and grew up in Uelzen . From 1996 to 2003 studied at the Hannover Medical School with stays abroad at Emory University with Xiao-Jiang Li and at McGill University with Guy Rouleau . From 2003, he was at University Hospital Tübingen as a human geneticist at Olaf Riess operating was there in 2005 with a thesis on Huntington's disease in an animal model doctorate and headed a working group for the study of Huntington's disease .

Since January 2019 he has been director of the human genetics department and holder of a professorship at the Ruhr University Bochum and researches Huntington's disease.
