Hwang Jung-oh (born April 1, 1958 ) is a former South Korean judoka . He was Olympic runner-up in 1984 in the half lightweight division.

The 1.67 m tall Hwang Jung-oh won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships in 1981. At the 1981 World Championships in Maastricht , he defeated the Poland Janusz Pawłowski in the round of 16 and the Italian Sandro Rosato in the quarter-finals . In the semifinals he was defeated by the Japanese Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki , in the battle for a bronze medal he defeated the French Thierry Rey .

In 1984, like in 1981, Hwang won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles he defeated the Austrian Josef Reiter in the round of 16 and the Brazilian Sergio Sano in the quarter-finals, each with a small score (koka). Hwang won the semifinals with a penalty against Sandro Rosati. In the final he was defeated by the Japanese Yoshiyuki Matsuoka by a small score (koka).
