Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki

Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki ( Japanese 柏 崎 克 彦 , Kashiwazaki Katsuhiko ; born September 16, 1951 ) is a former Japanese judoka . In 1981 he was world champion in the half-light weight category , the weight class up to 65 kilograms.

At the 1975 World Championships in Vienna, Kashiwazaki competed in what was then the lightest weight class, the lightweight up to 63 kilograms. He defeated Torsten Reissmann from the GDR in the quarter-finals and Schengeli Pizchelauri from the Soviet Union in the semi-finals . In the final he was defeated by his compatriot Yoshiharu Minami .

Kashiwazaki won the lightweight title at the Japanese championships in 1975. After changing the weight classes, he won the half-light weight category in 1978, 1979 and 1980. At the 1981 World Championships in Maastricht he defeated Torsten Reissmann in the quarter-finals and the South Korean Hwang Jung-oh in the semifinals , after his final victory over the Romanian Constantin Niculae , Kashiwazaki was world champion. The following year he won the Jigoro Kano Cup at the end of his career .
